Not at all. Start with the free Coding of Form: Primer — it covers everything you need to get comfortable with the tools before the real thinking begins. The ecosystem is designed to meet you wherever you are.
-
Take our free Computational Mindset Assessment — it takes two minutes and points you to the right starting point based on where you are right now. Or book a free strategy call with Jak if you'd prefer to talk it through.
-
All course content — the Primer, Masterclass, and Coding of Form course — comes with lifetime access. Builder and Studio community access is annual and can be renewed. The Accelerator runs for 8 weeks. Mentorship clients get lifetime access to all content.
-
No. Coding of Form was built in the context of Architecture but the thinking it teaches applies across any design discipline that works with geometry and systems — product Design, Engineering, Jewelry, Fabrication, Art, and beyond.
-
Rhino and Grasshopper, installed on a standard laptop or desktop. That's it.
-
Most students work through it in a few focused sessions — around 8–10 hours in total. It's self-paced so you can go faster or slower depending on your schedule.

It depends on your tier. Foundation includes access to the Tekne Lab Discord community. Builder adds a monthly drop-in session with Jak. Studio includes weekly community sessions and priority support. The Accelerator gives you direct weekly access to Jak throughout the 8-week sprint.

YouTube teaches you what buttons to press. Coding of Form teaches you how to think — the logic, systems, and problem-solving frameworks behind parametric design. That's the shift that lets you build anything, not just copy what you've seen.
-
A growing collection of real parametric projects from Tekne Lab's own work — not tutorial exercises. Each project includes walkthroughs of the thinking behind it so you can study, dissect, and build on real-world systems. Available from Builder tier and above.
-
Practitioners, researchers, and studio leads from the world of Computational Design — sharing how they work at the highest level. Sessions are live and exclusive to Studio tier members and above.
-
Yes — course content, the project library, and community programming are all continuously updated based on student feedback and developments in the field. All updates are included at no extra cost.
-
That's where the real growth starts. Builder and Studio members stay connected through the community, weekly sessions, design challenges, and the project library. Or take the next step into the Accelerator or Summit for a deeper, more guided experience.
